Black Eyed Peas, Bangalore

Black Eyed Peas, Bangalore

As it happens, my current tour has conincided with the Black Eyed Peas first ever concert in India. We (Dave, Harnek, Harry, New, Norbert, Sreekanth, V and I) had a great time.

The traffic to the venue was absolutely crazy. Between driving from the office to home and then to the venue, a distance of only 12km as the crow flies, it took about two hours to get there.

We were able to sneak the camera in, so got some good pics. I'm fairly impressed with the low-light performance of my Sony DSC-T100. The ISO 3200 setting made it possible to get some reasonable photos despite being about thirty metres back from the stage; although they are a bit grainy.

The Taj West End, Bangalore

We had a lovely day at the Taj. The buffet is fantastic, the tenderloin and langoustines from the grill delicious, and the all-you-can drink Moët et Chandon champagne simply divine.

We didn't go too crazy on the champagne :) but the buffet was irresistible. I don't know if we'll be back there again, but it was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon; if we have another spare Sunday, why not?

Sitting there under the eaves of the hotel's rear balcony, it was hard not to feel colonial India there with us. As a country, they've been a republic since 1950.

Because of Eid, we didn't have our regular driver, Iqbal. Instead we had a Hindi lad. He wasn't as good as a driver, but he got us where we wanted to go all the same.
